The new school year has brought many fresh and exciting changes all around our Trinity campus. From new teachers, to an awesome construction sight, and a tent to keep us cool on our gigantic turf field, changes have continued to help us reach and surpass our goals as a school community. Another exciting change has been a redesign of our Aftercare program, including new counselors, new snacks, new expectations, and a stronger emphasis on academics and the arts after our regular school hours are over. This is why we have decided to change our after school program name to Extended Day Education.

Many of our favorite counselors have returned to our staff this year to provide experience and leadership. Additionally, several Trinity Alumni have joined us as they begin their post high school years. Having counselors who attended Trinity themselves has helped to build instant connections with their students as they can relate to and understand expectations of all students. Finally, we have added staff members who come from a variety of locations and possess some wonderful skills. From future teachers, military servicemen, professional athletes, to engineers and family counselors, our staff is filled with many young adults who have very bright futures, all of whom love sharing their passions with our students.

Extended Day Education has allowed students to better utilize their time after school in a variety of ways. Students begin their afternoon with time to complete their homework while counselors are willing and available to support them. Recently, several Upper School students have shown interest in mentoring and supporting fourth grade students with homework and challenging new skills. Students have also been able to dive deeper into new curriculum through participating in art-centered activities that relate to their current study. Third grade students made a beautiful poster of the Solar System, including painted illustrations and detailed facts. Second grade students are currently working on a large-scale poster of the world as they master their continents and oceans. In kindergarten, students exercise their creativity through the creation of fun arts and crafts. These are just a few of many awesome things students have been creating and engaging in after school.

Students who stay after school have been excited to try many new snack options that have been offered to them this year. New options have included gluten free pretzels, kids Cliff bars known as Z Bars, a variety of healthy popcorn options, and baked chips to celebrate Fridays. Students have also been able to recommend some of their favorite healthier snack options, some of which have been added to the snack rotation.

With plenty of school year still left ahead of us, the amount fun left to be had is abundant. If you are interested in sending your child to the Extended Day program, or just would like more information, please contact Mr. Ryan at [email protected] or give him a call at school, ext. 3000.

I love the extended day program at Trinity. My kids could not be at a better place than here. As a full time working mom, this program has helped me a lot. Their homeworks are done weekley with their extended program teachers, they work on crafts, paint, drawing! My son Kevin gets super upset when I pick him up right after 5 pm. He says: ‘mommy, why did you pick me up early?, I was having so much fun in after school’
